Overview of UW Medical Center – Northwest

Located in North Seattle, UW Medical Center – Northwest has been a vital community asset since 1960, joining the UW Medicine healthcare system in 2010, and merging with the UW Medical Center in 2020 to become the UW Medical Center’s Northwest campus.

UW Medical Center – Northwest is a 331 bed hospital and outpatient surgery center, staffed by a dynamic and diverse team of UW Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine faculty delivering highly efficient, safe care in a community hospital setting. Major clinical programs and services include neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery (joints/trauma/spine/sports medicine), general surgery (hernia/colorectal/endocrine/breast/plastics), gynecology & gynecology/oncology, obstetrics, urology, otorhinolaryngology & oralmaxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, endoscopy, cardiac electrophysiology, and electroconvulsive therapy. 

Faculty members at the Northwest campus primarily provide patient care in a solo capacity and are also adept at leading the anesthesia care team model. Additional faculty subspecialty expertise includes regional anesthesia, advanced airway techniques, and pediatric anesthesia.

UW Medical Center – Northwest has a total of 19 operating rooms, including 12 main hospital operating rooms, 4 outpatient surgery center operating rooms,  2 childbirth center operating rooms, and 1 hybrid operating room. The Anesthesiology Department also supports 3 endoscopy suites, 2 interventional radiology suites, 6 neuromodulation suites and a cardiac catheterization lab.
