On March 18, 2025, the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine announced that Rosanne (Rosie) Sheinberg, MD, ABoIM, has been named the new Gunn-Loke Endowed Professor in Integrative Pain Medicine.

Established in 2011 by Dr. Chan Gunn, whose intramuscular stimulation (GunnIMS) technique has helped countless individuals with debilitating pain, the Gunn-Loke Endowed Professorship recognizes distinguished faculty in the field of integrative pain medicine.

Dr. Sheinberg’s areas of clinical expertise include anesthesiology, cardiac anesthesiology, perioperative transesophageal echocardiography, integrative medicine, and medical acupuncture. In 2019, she wrote and edited the Integrative Health section of the Johns Hopkins Menopause Guide app, which has been downloaded by users across the US, Canada, Europe, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and India.

Shortly after Dr. Sheinberg joined the University of Washington as an associate professor of anesthesiology and pain medicine in 2022, she launched the innovative preoperative mind-body feedback program at UW Medical Center – Montlake in 2024. This initiative aims to enhance patient preparation for and recovery from surgery as well as support acute and chronic pain management.

Dr. Sheinberg’s highly specialized qualifications and approach to pain management help to position the University of Washington School of Medicine at the forefront of integrative pain medicine and associated care. The department is thrilled to honor her accomplishments and vision with the Gunn-Loke Endowed Professorship.
