Congratulations to Associate Professor William Van Cleve, MD, MPH, who received a Fall 2025 UW Medicine Cares Award.

The UW Medicine Cares Award, established in 2013, recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments of individuals and teams who consistently exemplify UW Medicine Service Culture Guidelines. All employees, patients and members of the public are invited to nominate someone who makes a difference. 

A board-certified anesthesiologist and pediatrician, Dr. Van Cleve serves as the clinical director of quality and safety in anesthesiology at UW Medical Center – Montlake. His clinical and research interests include perioperative anxiety, care for adults with cognitive or developmental disabilities, multimodal pain management, anesthesia for airway surgery and global surgical care.
